Using computer aided drafting programs, the Drafter produces or revises fabrication drawings for shell and tube heat exchangers

Major Duties

  • Reviews job assignment with Mechanical Engineer and references documents including Quote documents, purchase orders, customer drawings, and sales orders.
  • Generates final drawings using models & drawing templates.
  • Checks generated drawings against engineer notes, design calculations/sketches, customer drawings and applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications.
  • Makes additions to models, drawings, and sketches as needed to complete detail drawings and Bill of Materials.
  • Calculates dimensions of parts and materials as needed to complete detail drawings & Bill of Materials.
  • Creates / completes Bill of Materials incorporating engineering notes.
  • Modifies drawings as directed by the Mechanical Engineer.
  • Performs file maintenance of individual computer system.
  • Sends documents to customer for approval through Document Control as directed by the Mechanical Engineer.
  • Works with the Mechanical Engineering to address customer comments.
  • Verifies design package has current revisions as listed on the Document Transmittal and Shop Distribution forms and releases design package to production for procurement and fabrication as directed by the Mechanical Engineer.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    Knowledge- Formal drafting training from an accredited institution or comparable experience. Strong math skills. Familiarity with ASME Section VIII and IX is a strong plus.
    Skills- Must be able to use drafting hardware and software proficiently. Solid modeling proficiency required. SolidWorks skill / knowledge is a strong plus.
    Working Conditions- Normal office and shop environment (to include inspecting equipment on the floor and occasionally in customers’ production plants to gather / verify dimensions to generate new fabrication drawings). Prolonged sitting and use of computers.
