How to Take Most Out of Air Cooler

Air coolers are cheaper alternatives to air conditioners and centrally air conditioning systems. Although considered somewhat traditional, old and obsolete, they are in tremendous use even today. Homes and offices, name a type of room, and an air cooler is good for it. Here are a few ways through which a regular air cooler can be maximized for its value and more can be taken out of it.

Open the Windows:
Yes, closing the windows and shutting them does not do any good with the cooling of an air cooler. The cooler gives and nothing less than pushes the air in the room. It is equally essential that it gets out of the room evenly so that the air keeps on changing and the fresher air replaces the older one regularly. Depending upon the size of the room and the shape of it, correct amount of ventilation can greatly help in cooling a room with the help of a air cooler. As a more general and careful statistic after calculation, it can be said that about 300 mm opening of windows or doors does the trick. Another very important thing to do is to open the window that does not face the wind otherwise the whole operation goes down the alley. If this is done, then wind from outside the house gets in and prevails over that thrown by the cooler. A very interesting fact is that bigger fans of air coolers need bigger room or wider opening of windows otherwise they become noisy. This happens because of the push of air from both sides, i.e. towards the fan and from the fan. As a best practice, the best thing to have is a ceiling vent for fresh air replacement because an air cooler is more inclined to throw the air upwards majorly.

Adjust the Louvers:
It cannot get any simpler than this, the louvers of an air cooler need to be adjusted to spread the cool or fresh air in a wider area. Four to six louvers are sufficient to get directed towards the area that needs it most, the others can be rotated elsewhere so as to evenly spread the air in the room.

Sun ban the windows:
An air cooler does not cool a room as much as to match the heat that the room takes in allowed by the windows. Simple glass and plastic built transparent windows always welcome the heat rays from sun inside the room thus rising the temperature greatly. It is not very pricy to find a heat blocking mirror or a film that covers the existing glass, making it heat proof. Reflective glass can be used only if the respective window does not face a road, since it can cause serious accidents. In case a house is under construction, this would be a good time to review the orientation of windows and the direction from sun where they open at. The orientation for windows with respect to cooling from best to worst is North, South, East and then West. However, East and North directions require appropriate shading on the outside. Also, curtains and internal blinds can be used to cover windows thus blocking the sunlight from entering the room.

Lighter Clothing:

Essentially, wearing lighter clothes keeps a body cool, not to mention, cleaning of air cooler helps greatly. Deposition of dust and other things that may find their way in can cause blockage in air flow and can cause disturbance in the cooling process. If the cooler is installed in a bad water area, the need for cleaning becomes even more intense.
