Senior Mechanical Engineer - Pressure Vessels

CB&I’s Oil and Gas division currently has an opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Pressure Vessels, for our Houston, TX location. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work independently and in a team setting within a dynamic work environment. 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Mechanical design and analysis of an assigned scope of work in a CB&I project including specific complex deliverables such as pressure vessels, heat transfer equipment, rotating equipment and piping engineering.
  • Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages for equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers.
  • Mentors junior Mechanical Engineers and depending on size and complexity of scope of work, may be assigned as the Mechanical Engineering Lead for a project.
  • Maintains and promotes a focus on CB&I’s end product whether engineering, fabrication or construction. Ensures effective communications among other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensures effective management of change. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum 7 years detailed design experience 
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 10 years of EPC experience.
  • ASME Section VIII Division I and II experience
  • Professional Engineer Certificate of Registration
  • Specialization in the title area, either Pressure Vessel, Heat Transfer, or Rotating Equipment.
  • Experience as an Area, Team or Project Lead
  • Experience with LNG or Ethylene related projects
  • Track record of successfully supporting the similar size organization and investment
  • Customer focused, dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
  • Relates well to all levels and kinds of people; able to build appropriate rapport; listens well
  • Self-starter; results driven; anticipates/initiates and implements solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
