Definition of operating procedures and component specifications.
Fluid flow analysis and heat transfer analysis primarily focused on pipework systems, to determine system losses, pressure drops, pump design, pressure vessel sizing and heat exchanger sizing.
Evaluation techniques used to support a safety justification will involve hazard identification (HAZOP), fault tree assessments, generation of Failure Mode and Effect Criticality Analysis (FMECAs) and implementation of As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) principles.
Design and development of test rigs and support to submarine build and commissioning is also undertaken as a part of the verification and validation process.
LEAD STRUCTURAL ASSESSMENTS ENGINEER, NUCLEAR NEW BUILD, GLOUCESTER Our client is currently seeking a Lead Structural Assessment Engineer to support the Design Authority Head of Nuclear Island in providing control and oversight of the design with responsibility for review and acceptance of all structural integrity aspects of the UK ABWR. The successful candidate will lead the Structural Assessment team and deliver authoritative advice in all technical areas associated with structural integrity. They will review structural integrity aspects of the design, provide support in defining safety and environmental functional requirements and provide support to the GDA led by HGNE. They will be the Design Authority Intelligent Customer for Structural Integrity services provided through the technical support framework. We are keen to speak to talented individuals about this great opportunity to undertake a key role in Design Authority in defining and maintaining the design intent of the UK ABWR. The Lead Structural Assessment Engineer will be responsible for the integrity of a wide range of equipment including very high integrity items such as the reactor pressure vessel and main steam isolation valves. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a track record of success and achievement in similar roles leading a team of Structural Assessment Engineers. They will have knowledge and experience of structural analysis, including design by analysis, fracture mechanics, fatigue, corrosion, materials, welding and non-destructive examination. -We are looking to add a Senior Welding Engineer, to our existing team, who will perform welding design and review customer product requirements to ensure welding code requirements. This is a key position within our centralized engineering group that provides technical and engineering support to our locations throughout the Gulf Coast region.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
· Responsible for ensuring that industry code (ASME, AWS, etc.) and customer requirements are properly set and completed throughout the manufacturing and fabrication processes.· Determine that appropriate processes and procedures are developed, utilized, and implemented and ensure they meet both internal and external quality requirements.· Interface with plant managers, quality and purchasing management, manufacturing technicians, and welders on production jobs and production enhancement projects.· Work extensively with external customers and their code inspectors to ensure products are produced or refurbished to the required quality level in a timely and cost effective manner.· Attends pre-fabrication meetings with customers as required.· Ensure documentation completion and document status communications to internal customers using SharePoint document management system.· Interpreting and analyzing request for quotations.· Developing detailed written weld procedures which meet code & customer requirements.· Analyze and ensure the appropriate welding materials (alloys, etc.) are included in the entire processing of the job order.· Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Knowledge
BS Welding Engineering or Metallurgy with in-depth knowledge of the petrochemical industry is preferred.
ASME B&PV Section VIII Division 1, Section II, Section IX. ASME B&PV Section VIII Division 2 and AWS code experience a plus.
Able to read, interpret, and determine appropriate welding procedures and processes based on customer specifications and industry requirements.
Skills
